running4zach

Today, much was the same as yesterday. The doctors are keeping Zach sedated for longer than planned, as his breathing rate increases too much whenever they decrease the sedation. Zach’s fever spiked again overnight, so they have continued to give him tylenol and ice packs to decrease his temperature and heart rate. They will continue to keep Zach asleep so that his body has a better chance to heal. They will work to wean the sedation and see how his body tolerates it in the coming days.

Zach’s right hand and feet are still not looking good today. There was some warmth on the top of his right hand and a pulse in his wrist, but his fingers and toes are black and dark purple and his circulation does not seem to be improving in those areas. We can thank God that his left hand is looking very healthy and warm, despite the odds. Please pray that God will work another miracle in Zach’s body. He can restore the withered hand and he can make the lame walk.

We also received the good news today that Zach’s kidneys have returned to a healthy level of functioning and continue to heal, which means that he may be able to receive a CT scan for a more comprehensive diagnosis in the next couple of days.

“On my bed I remember you; I think of you through the watches of the night. Because you are my help, I sing in the shadow of your wings. I cling to you; your right hand upholds me.” (Psalm 63: 6-8).
