Zach was placed on his back again this morning. Zach’s heart rate and oxygen level improved overnight. Praise God!
The doctors told us that all the numbers that they were worried about yesterday are better today. The threat to Zach losing his life is greatly diminished, but serious problems are still persistent. The medical team expects a longer hospital course for Zach, and reminded the family to prioritize rest for themselves as they walk with Zach through this difficult time.
Zach’s cousin Ian Bergsma arrived from Crows Nest Pass, Alberta around 2:30 pm today. We were surrounded by people from near and far coming to support Zach.
This evening, we received another update. The doctors identified Zach’s bacterial infection as Strep A, which he has in addition to the flu, and Zach is responding well to the more specific antibiotics.
“Give praise to the Lord, proclaim his name; make known among the nations what he has done… Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always.” (Psalm 105: 1, 4).
