The theme for today is: Working.
John Piper said, “God is always doing 10,000 things in your life, and you may be aware of three of them.” God is working. God is always working. He works considerately, continually, and confidently.
Considerately. God is considerate with us. He knows our limitations. He knows our strengths. He knows our struggles. He knows our joys. He knows our sorrows. “As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him” (Psalm 103:13). God has the deepest love, compassion, and consideration for His people. Are you at your lowest? Are you at your weakest? God will give you special consideration. And he’ll do so continually.
Continually. God is working continually and constantly in our lives. He works in our ‘light’ seasons when we can see. When His will and purpose are clear to us. When blessings abound. He works in our ‘night’ seasons when we can’t see. When fear comes to the surface. When the future seems gloomy and dark.
God works when darkness is our closest friend (Psalm 88:18). God works in the night. “And all that night the Lord drove the sea back with a strong east wind and turned it into dry land” (Exodus 14:21). Israel was in the dark. Israel had to wait. God worked. God saved. God does this for His people continually. In our ‘light’ seasons and in our ‘night’ seasons. In fact there is no darkness in God. “Even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you” (Psalm 139:12). We can be sure of this because God works confidently.
Confidently. God sees everything. God knows everything. God plans everything. God works perfectly and confidently. God doesn’t make mistakes. “For the Lord will be your confidence and will keep your foot from being caught” (Proverbs 3:26).
God works confidently. That’s a promise. We can discard our doubt. We can forego our fears. We can face our fears. We can accept God’s canvas of confidence. And we can allow Him to work in our lives.
God works. God is working considerately, continually, and confidently. Our setbacks are God’s setups. Jesus told His disciples, “You don’t understand now what I am doing, but someday you will” (John 13:7). He IS doing 10,000 things in our lives. Pray that we become aware of more than three of them.
Today’s Updates:
Zach is now receiving a faster rate of feeds again, which has been going well. He has not thrown up or felt nauseous, but he is still receiving anti-nausea medication with his meals. Please continue to pray that Zach will tolerate his tube feed well and will continue to feel better.
Zach was very tired today, sleeping for most of the morning, and then again in the afternoon. He didn’t seem to want to answer many questions or do his regular exercises because he had so little energy. This evening, Zach’s blood pressure reading was lower than usual. The care team is monitoring his blood pressure to see if he will need any treatment to help keep it in a good place. Please pray that Zach’s blood pressure will improve again. Pray that nothing serious is lowering his blood pressure. Please also pray that Zach will have the energy that he needs to heal and that he will be able to participate in his speech, physio, and occupational therapy sessions after a weekend of rest.
Thank you for your thoughts and prayers and all of the ways you support Zach while he is in the hospital. Please continue to pray for healing in Zach’s body and restoration in his brain. Pray that God will grant him the strength, patience, and peace that he needs to face every day.
“Summon your power, God; show us your strength, our God, as you have done before.” (Psalms 68:28)
