The theme for today is: The Future.
God is a big picture God. Our awesome God knows how we are made and how uncertainty and the ‘need to know’ attitude can cripple us.
We naturally experience fear for the future. What is going to happen to us? What’s going to happen to our children? Where will the church be at in 20 years? What’s going to happen to our country? How will we get through all this?
God reminds us to look at the big picture. God is constant. He is past, present, and future. He just ‘is.’ He is with us. He is our God. He will strengthen us. He will help us. He will hold us.
God has an amazing plan. He has an amazing future plan. And we are part of that plan. Zach is part of that plan. We planners need to trust THE planner.
In our stubborn desire to plan out our lives completely, God comes to us with His gracious reminders. He is the planner. His plan is better than our plans.
Running for Zach. Our big picture God will be with us and Zach every stride of the way. The race marked out for us. The race planned out for us. God won’t lead us on this race course for just a time and then leave it up to us to run the rest of it on our own and just figure it out. He will lead us now and into the future into eternity.
God holds our future and Zach’s future in His hands. He knows the future. He controls the future. He’s the only one to go to for ‘future reference.’ He is a big picture God.
Today’s Updates:
Zach had a busy Thursday and was quite successful in all his therapy sessions. Physio and OT worked on his trunk strength and motor coordination and Zach worked very hard in these sessions and enjoyed himself. In speech, they tried out a communication technology on an iPad (Augmentative Alternative Communication), which allows Zach to express more complex ideas. It was Zach’s first time with this tech, so it took quite a bit of time and prompting to get him to use it. Please pray that Zach will be able to communicate more successfully and consistently through this method and others, Lord willing.
On Friday and Saturday, Zach was much more tired than on Thursday, and it looked like his upper body muscles were sore. His physiotherapist and occupational therapist said they may have worked him too hard on Thursday. When Zach is tired, he is much more reluctant to communicate, and it becomes harder to understand what he wants and needs. Please pray that God will restore Zach’s energy and that he will feel refreshed and ready for more treatments after a long weekend of rest.
Zach has also been resistant to some nursing care because he wants to have his legs covered with a bedsheet at all times. He will sometimes get agitated when they have to remove or change the bedsheet during his regular nursing care, which makes it harder for his needs to be met. Please pray for peace for Zach in his mind and body. Pray that God will heal his brain and restore his cognitive function in his timing.
