Today’s devotional comes from Breath as Prayer by Jennifer Tucker
You Can Trust God When You Don’t Understand
Breathe Deep and Know: The way of God may not always make sense to you, but you can trust Him without fear.
At the root of my fear is a lack of trust in the heart of God.
When the story of my life isn’t unfolding the way I thought it would, when a season of suffering lingers longer than I think I can bear, when the news is too bad and bills are too high and tasks are too hard and the pain is too much — when everything looks lost and nothing seems right — it can be hard to see or understand the heart of God. And it’s difficult to trust what we don’t understand.
But His ways are not at all like ours. There is always more happening than we can see.
Just look at Jesus: the Hope of the world born in the form of a vulnerable infant, the way of salvation forged through significant suffering. What looked like utter death and defeat on the cross was really the way to ultimate life and salvation. What looked like the end was really the beginning of all things being made new.
Inhale… You are my salvation. Exhale… I will trust You and not be afraid.
Inhale… You are my salvation. Exhale… I will trust You and not be afraid.
So that hard thing we don’t understand? That pain we fear may break us? It may turn out to be the tool for our rescue. The storm that threatens to drown us may actually be the path to freedom. When we shift the way we see our suffering and trust the heart of God, we can let go of fear and be filled with peace because we know that He is working even if we don’t understand.
Inhale… You are my salvation
Exhale… I will trust You and not be afraid.
Today’s Updates:
We found out today that Zach’s transfer to Foothills ICU will hopefully be this Sunday. A few of us may be able to join him in the medical plane to Calgary. Please pray that all the preparations will go smoothly in the coming days, and that Zach will have a safe transfer to Calgary.
Over the course of the past few days, the doctor has significantly decreased the amount of narcotic medications that Zach is receiving by compensating with other relaxing meds. Zach was a bit calmer today than yesterday, with a lower heart rate for most of the day. The doctor is happy with Zach’s response to this treatment.
Today, Zach’s fever spiked again, so they took cultures to check for any new infections. We are thankful that they’re checking for another infection just in case. Please pray that the results will be negative, as another infection would be yet another stress on Zach’s system.
Zach has now been breathing without the ventilator for a week and continues to do well on the trach mask. We are thankful for this progress! The dietician assessed some of Zach’s nutritional needs today and is making sure that he is receiving enough calories and hydration. They will be sharing their findings with Foothills so that Zach will be getting optimal nutrition in Calgary as well.
Thank you for your continued prayers for Zach’s health and upcoming transfer. We are thankful for the strength God has given Zach and us thus far, praise God for his continued blessings!
“See, God has come to save me. I will trust in Him and not be afraid. The Lord God is my strength and my song; He has given me victory.” (Isaiah 12:2)
