The theme for today is: Steps.
Psalm 37:23-24. God directs.
God directs our steps. Every step. Step by step. This means our going out, coming in, sleeping, waking, getting up, working, talking, listening, driving, walking, and yes, even running.
Running for Zach. Zach hit a setback in his race. He was running more backward than forward. How can you run a race and make it to the finish line when you run backwards? Makes no sense. At least to us.
God directs Zach’s steps. HE determines, orders, and ordains his steps. The race is marked out. Not the course we’d like. Obstacles are one thing. Storms are another thing. Steep hills, slippery rocks, a bear. We’ll take that. Well, maybe not the bear. But backwards? Seriously? Shouldn’t he be keeping step? Taking another step in the right direction? At least some more baby steps?
God directs Zach’s steps. Because He is God. No accidents. No luck. No chance. No fate. No mistakes. God directs the forward steps. God directs the backward steps. Step by step.
The steps seem shaky and fragile to us. But the steps are firm and solid to God. He makes them that way. “He makes firm the steps.” Every step. Every step of the course. Every step carefully planned. Every step faithfully planned. Every step lovingly planned. Every step leading to the finish line. God directs Zach’s steps.
Today’s Updates:
Today Zach remains on various medications for sedation, pain and blood pressure support. They increased his ventilator overnight to keep his oxygen in a good place. The doctors want him to be resting and on the ventilator for at least another day.
Zach’s blood count (hemoglobin) was low again this morning and he received another unit of blood. His infection markers (white blood cells) are finally going down! The doctors are keeping him on multiple antibiotics as the dead space in his right lung puts him at high risk for another infection.
Overall, it was a calm day for Zach. We are thankful that he’s getting the rest he needs, please continue to pray for healing for Zach, particularly for his brain. We will continue to put our hope and trust in God especially during this time of setbacks.
