It’s Going to Turn Out Alright
“Don’t be afraid,” he said. “Take courage. I am here!” (Matthew 14:27 NLT)
God’s call to courage is not a call to naïveté or ignorance. We aren’t to be oblivious to the overwhelming challenges that life brings.
Do whatever it takes to keep your gaze on Jesus.
When a friend of mine spent several days in the hospital at the bedside of her husband, she relied on hymns to keep her spirits up. Every few minutes, she stepped into the restroom and sang a few verses of “Great Is Thy Faithfulness.” Do likewise! Memorize Scripture. Read biographies of great lives. Ponder the testimonies of faithful Christians. Make the deliberate decision to set your hope on him.
As followers of God, you and I have a huge asset. We know everything is going to turn out all right. Christ hasn’t budged from his throne, and Romans 8:28 hasn’t evaporated from the Bible. Our problems have always been his possibilities.
Feed your fears, and your faith will starve. Feed your faith, and your fears will.
We know everything is going to turn out all right. That’s the promise of Romans 8:28. But it’s hard to remember when all the possibilities of what could go wrong are swirling around us. When fear is plentiful, let’s fix our gaze on Jesus and remember this:
God’s Promise to Me: The Lord is in control. He knows how it all turns out. And He promised it will be for my good. He will give me the courage to keep going and the hope to hold on.
Today’s Updates:
Zach had a rough day today. It looks like he has another infection which has delayed his medical transport flight until at least Monday. We won’t have a definitive date for Zach’s transport to Calgary until the doctor deems that he is well enough to fly. Please pray for patience for us while we wait for Zach to be able to relocate to Calgary.
Last night, Zach spiked a fever which remained high throughout the day. He hasn’t been able to sleep much since yesterday. Throughout the day he was restless and sweaty with a high heart rate. They sent infection cultures to identify which bacteria or virus may be causing Zach’s symptoms. Please pray that they will be able to identify which additional infection Zach may have so that they can treat it effectively.
Zach vomited last night and this morning, and some of the vomit may have gone into his lungs. They took some xray’s on Zach and found fluid in his lungs and excessive air in his stomach. They’re draining Zach’s stomach contents and stopping his tube feeds and his PEG tube medications to give his gut a rest. Please pray that Zach will be able to recover from this infection soon.
Because of the extra infection in Zach’s lungs, they increased the amount of oxygen that Zach is receiving from the trach mask. The ENT surgeon did a routine switch of Zach’s tracheostomy tube today, which went well. We are glad that Zach is still off the ventilator, and we pray for strength for Zach after a difficult day.
We must pay much closer attention to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away from it. (Hebrews 2:1 NASB)
We know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. (Romans 8:28 NKJV)
