The theme for today is: Today.

Psalm 118:24. Never a useless day. Never a wasted day.

Today was not just another day. Today was another of God’s days. God created it. God gave it. And we will rejoice and be glad in it.

God’s watchful care was on this day. Every detail, every hour, every minute, and every second. “But even the hairs of your head are all numbered” (Matthew 10:30). God’s grace was on this day. “For from his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace” (John 1:16). God’s mercy was on this day. “His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning” (Lamentations 3:23). He watched. He worked. He willed. He accomplished his purpose.

Not just another day. How was your day? Fine. How was your day? Meh. This is the day! The day didn’t just happen. It was another day of our Lord. Another day to fulfill His designs, plans, and promises. Another day He gave to us. Another day He gave to Zach. Another day of running the race. One more lap completed. Each lap, each day, is not just another day, but one more day closer to glory. “And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ” (Philippians 1:6).

Today. Never a useless day. Never a wasted day. But God’s day. We thank God for today.

Today’s Updates:

Zach remained on the trach mask all day today! We are happy to hear this news. The drainage from his chest tube is slowing down so they did an x-ray of his chest to see how much fluid remains outside of the lung.

The doctor reduced more of his relaxing medications today, so Zach was very restless. His heart rate increased as the day went on and he was quite restless, moving all his limbs and sometimes grimacing. The nurses were told to hold off on giving him any extra meds to relax him to see how his does on a full day without any sedation. As the doctor said at the beginning of the week, they want to end the “endless cycle of sedation” that Zach has been on and see his neurological status without any relaxing medications. Please pray that Zach may have a calmer night and get the rest he needs. Please also continue to pray for Zach’s brain and body to heal in the Lord’s good time.

This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” (Psalm 118:24)

“The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge.” (Psalm 19:1-2)
