Since Zach’s rhythm of care is now more predictable and his health situation has stabilized in many respects, we have decided to decrease updates to once a week, starting today.
———
The theme for today is: Overwhelmed.
We’re overwhelmed. Overwhelmed with our circumstances. Overwhelmed with decisions. Overwhelmed with changes. Overwhelmed with life. Overwhelmed with support. Overwhelmed with prayers. Overwhelmed with joy.
We’re in good company. Isaiah was “overwhelmed with joy in the LORD my God!” (Isaiah 61:10 NLT). God had mercy on him. God forgave him. God clothed him. Dressed to the nines! Decked out like a bridegroom or a bride.
God clothed Isaiah with the best clothing line in the world. Top quality robes. Top quality garments. God clothed him with the garments of salvation and righteousness. Clothes that are always ‘in.’ Clothes that last. Clothes that last forever. Literally.
God gave us the same clothes. Running for Zach. Perfect clothes to wear. Perfect clothes to run in. We’re overwhelmed. Overwhelmed with joy.
Today’s Updates:
Zach has been doing ok for the past few days. He enjoyed his Saturday because a few of his friends came to visit throughout the day. He laughed lots and loves making the people around him laugh by doing silly things like wiggling around or goofing around with balloons and stuffed animals. Please pray that Zach will continue to be in good spirits in the coming week. Pray that he will have the energy he needs for his various therapies, especially as his therapy schedule is becoming increasingly busy compared to when he came to this unit.
Zach has been quite thirsty and asking for a lot of water over the past few days. Since he’s already taking lots of fluid by mouth, we are hoping that he will be cleared to have some broth in additional to his tube feeds soon. Please pray that Zach will continue to swallow well and that he will be able to enjoy some more foods and drinks again.
Zach’s left shoulder is still subluxed. During his OT and physio sessions, they have used some electrical stimulation to help him lift his shoulder. Right now, Zach’s shoulder is taped up since he doesn’t have any OT or physio over the weekend. Please pray that the subluxation in Zach’s left shoulder will decrease and that he will not be in pain when he uses this arm. Zach’s left wrist is still a point of concern because he has trouble straightening it on his own. He wears a functional brace during his therapies and a splint at night to help stretch the tendons in his arm. Please pray that Zach will regain strength and range of motion in his wrist so that he will be able to use his left hand more effectively.
Please continue to pray for Zach. Pray that God will continue to grant him healing and strength for recovery. Pray that he will feel God’s nearness and lean on him for strength, peace, and joy at all times. Thank you for your prayers and support.

Hear my cry oh God attend to my prayer.
from the ends of the Earth I cry unto You
When my heart is overwhelmed lead me to the Rock
that is higher than I, that is higher than I.
For You oh Lord are a shelter unto me
And a strong tower from the enemy
When my heart is overwhelmed lead me to the Rock
that is higher than I, that is higher than I.
Hear my cry oh God attend to my prayer.
from the ends of the Earth I cry unto You
When my heart is overwhelmed lead me to the Rock
that is higher than I, that is higher than I.
I will abide in Your house oh my Lord, forever
I will rest in the shelter of your wings
To the Rock, that is higher than I…
(Psalm 61 by Ajalon)
“I am overwhelmed with joy in the Lord my God! For he has dressed me with the clothing of salvation and draped me in a robe of righteousness. I am like a bridegroom dressed for his wedding or a bride with her jewels.
The Sovereign Lord will show his justice to the nations of the world. Everyone will praise him! His righteousness will be like a garden in early spring, with plants springing up everywhere.”
(Isaiah 61:10-11 NLT)
