Watching and Waiting
We’re waiting. We’ve been doing a lot of waiting. Waiting in line. Waiting at elevators. Waiting for doctors. Waiting for nurses. Waiting for updates. Waiting to visit. We watch and we wait. We wait for the Lord.
Today is another day to watch and wait
Hard to do when we’ve been doing that six days straight
We wait with tears of anxiety and tears of joy
The compassionate care and skills of doctors and nurses which they employ
We wait in faith; we wait with hope
Hugs, visits, meals, and prayers to help us cope
Easter Sunday! A day to celebrate!
Our Risen Saviour His love so great!
We watch and wait for yet another day
Knowing our God is listening when we pray
Today’s Progress:
Zach has been diagnosed with “necrotizing pneumonia,” which is an infection of the lungs that involves the death of some lung tissue. This diagnosis involves a persistent fever and a long course of antibiotics. Zach finished his treatment for the flu yesterday, but is still receiving antibiotics for strep. They took some more samples on him today to see how the infection is responding to the treatment.
They stopped all his sedating drugs and are hoping that he will perk up. He already has a slow blink and twitches his nose, but we haven’t seen other signs of him waking up yet. More watching and waiting!
They turned down his ventilator again today, but he is still receiving significant support from it. If all goes according to plan, Zach will wake up while he is still intubated, which will naturally be very distressing. Please pray for Zach to wake up and feel at peace in his situation.
We haven’t seen much improvement from his right hand and both feet. His hand is still warm on the top but his fingers are cold and black. His feet are warm around the ankles, but cold on the main part of both feet and also black on his toes. His left hand still looks healthy, praise the Lord. Please continue to pray for healing of his other extremities putting full faith in our God, the Great Physician.
“Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.” (Psalm 27:14)
