running4zach

Zach is still intubated, but he’s breathing at his own pace and the ventilator is helping to fill up his lungs. They’re slowly taking down his sedation levels, and DV he will become stable enough to wake up in the coming days. They have started Zach on small amounts of tube feeding to see how he tolerates it.

He will most likely lose part or all of his right hand and possibly some toes or even his feet.

Overall, Zach shows continued significant improvement in terms of his vital signs. We prayed for a miracle and it happened!

Thanks to everyone for their prayers. What an outpouring of support from across the whole country (and Belgium, Australia, China, America, and maybe even more)!

With tears of joy,

The Hoogerdyk and Teitsma families

“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.” (Psalm 46: 1-3).
