The theme for today is: The Rock.
Psalm 61:2. God leads.
David cries. God leads. David asked Him to. Lead me to the rock that is higher than I, he prays.
Rock. He wants to be led to this rock. There’s something special about this rock. He needs to get there. And he needs to get there now. He knows he’s too weak to get there on his own. He knows it’s impossible to get there on his own. He’s desperate. He just needs to get to this rock. And so he says, “lead me…lead me to the rock higher than I.” He’s taking a leap of faith. Just get me there, God. Whatever it takes Lord; I just need that rock. David knows it well. He knows what this rock is. He recognizes it. He recognizes Him.
David knows WHO this rock is. So do we. The rock of my strength (Jehovah Tsuri). David was right. There is indeed something special about this rock. The rock provides incredible power, unchanging stability, limitless might, safe protection, and strong endurance. The Rock is faithful. The Rock saves!
The Rock. Sounds like someone we know. Sounds like Jesus. The Rock of Israel. The Rock of our strength. The Rock of salvation. The Rock eternal. Rock of ages. The chief Rock, the cornerstone.
Lead me. Lead me to the Rock higher than I. Zach has hiked up many a mountain. We have pictures of him standing on some mighty big rocks with arms lifted up in the air. Triumph. Another beautiful hike. He’s now on a better Rock. A much stronger Rock. He’s still standing. Standing on the Rock of Jesus. He’s still running. Running with endurance. Running with perseverance. Fixing his eyes on the Rock. Fixing his eyes on Jesus. Arms lifted up in the air. Triumph.
We cry. God leads. We’re asking Him to.
Today’s Updates:
Zach got moved into another area last night. He’s still in the ICU, but in a quieter section for long term ICU patients. Zach still requires critical care after three weeks so he got a bigger and quieter room with a large window. We are enjoying the new room and the calmer environment.
Zach received a new doctor today in this new area. This doctor changed his pain medications and added on another antibiotic to hopefully prevent any more infections.
Zach has been off the ventilator since yesterday morning (about 36 hours at the time of writing this message). We are excited for this progress and pray that Zach continues to improve. Our biggest concern is still Zach’s hypoxic brain injury, but the doctors said again this will take time to heal. Zach’s level of awareness is the same as yesterday. We trust God’s care in everything, knowing that God has a purpose in the waiting as well. Thank you for your continued prayers and support.
“From the ends of the earth I call to you, I call as my heart grows faint; lead me to the rock that is higher than I.” (Psalm 61:2)
