The theme for today is Psalms.
Food is great. Sleep is welcome. Supplements are a bonus. Medicine is a blessing.
But the best treatment in times like these is God’s Word, in particular, the Psalms. The Psalms are medicine for the body. Medicine for the soul. The Psalms have medicine for everyone and everything.
The Psalms depict life. Real life. They provide something valuable, healthy, and wholesome for every life situation you can think of. They deal with every emotion and experience you could ever have. Better yet, they provide ways to help you share, deal with, and process your emotions.
The Psalms are emotional. The Psalms are emotion-full. The Psalms help you think, feel, trust, laugh, cry, sing, and pray. The Psalms are a gift. The Psalms are Gospel.
So, pick a Psalm. Read a Psalm. Sing a Psalm. Pray a psalm. That’s what we’re gonna do. And we’re gonna share that with you in the coming weeks.
Today’s Updates:
Zach had another EEG today. This is his second EEG within a week, and the doctors say the one today looks worse than his first one. His brain waves are slower, but he’s also receiving some meds with sedating effects so the doctors say those may be affecting the results. Please pray with us for healing for Zach’s brain.
The nurses discovered an air leak from one of Zach’s chest tubes, meaning that his lung is leaking air again. This makes taking Zach off the ventilator a priority to prevent his lung from collapsing again. The tracheostomy will greatly help this process. The doctor who is inserting the tracheostomy met with us today and gave us a run down of the procedure. They are hoping to complete it sometime this week. Please pray that God will guide the hands of the doctors in this procedure.
Zach has been moving his body more today. He has a distressed expression on his face when he does this, and the nurses have been giving him pain meds to make him more comfortable. Please pray with us that Zach may be able to move around without pain. Please especially pray that he will fully recover and wake up someday soon. We know that God sparing Zach’s life was a miracle, and we continue to pray with earnestness and confidence to our loving God.
”I call out to the Lord, and he answers me from his holy mountain. I lie down and sleep; I wake again, because the Lord sustains me.“ (Psalms 3:4-5)
“Be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ” (Ephesians 5:18b-20)
