Today’s devotional from ‘Wisdom for the Way’ by Charles Swindoll.
God is the Potter. We are the clay. He’s the Shepherd. We are the sheep. He’s the Master. We are the servant. No matter how educated we are, no matter how much power and influence we think we may have, no matter how long we have walked with Him, no matter how significant we may imagine ourselves to be in His plan, none of that qualifies us to grasp the first particle of why He does what He does when He does it and how He chooses to do it.
The amazing thing is that even in the midst disappointment, surprise, and mystery you will discover how very reliable and trustworthy God is – and how secure you are in His hands. Puzzling as the process may be to us, He stays with His plan. There is no need for us to know all the reasons, and He certainly doesn’t need to explain Himself. Potters work with the clay, they don’t fret over it or ask permission to remake the clay into whatever they wish.
Today’s Updates:
Zach was extubated yesterday after an uncomfortable morning where he was gagging, vomiting and very restless. We are so thankful that Zach has been able to get off the ventilator and extubated so quickly! Zach was almost instantly more relaxed after they removed his breathing tube, with a normal heart rate and no agitation. Zach’s blood gas tests have also been looking better since he’s been extubated, praise the Lord! Zach is currently breathing on his own with extra oxygen coming in through his nose, but it’s still a lot of effort for Zach to breathe normally.
Zach hasn’t gotten a lot of sleep and he still requires continuous IV sedation to keep him calm. Today Zach has been very agitated with a high heart rate and they’ve had a difficult time calming bin. Despite this, Zach followed some commands today with his right arm and blinking his eyes, which we are happy to see! He’s also been doing more facial expressions, including a smile here and there. Praise God that Zach has been able to maintain his neurological progress despite going back on the ventilator on Sunday!
Thank you for your continued prayers. We ask that you pray for full healing of Zach’s brain and lungs, and that the peace of God may rest on him during this time of recovery.
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” (Isaiah 55:8-9)
